A fixed dental bridge replaces missing teeth with crowns on adjacent teeth that support artificial teeth. Durable and long-lasting, it may require occasional replacement or re-cementing.
Benefits of a Fixed Bridge:
Closes gaps from missing teeth
Preserves facial structure and alignment
Prevents adjacent teeth from shifting
Restores natural chewing and speaking abilities
Enhances the appearance of your smile
Provides a durable alternative to removable dentures
What to Expect When Getting a Fixed Bridge
Getting a fixed bridge usually requires two appointments. During the first visit, we numb the anchoring teeth and remove a small amount of enamel to prepare for the crowns. We then take an accurate mold to create your custom bridge and place a temporary bridge to protect your teeth while your permanent one is made.
At your follow-up appointment, we’ll adjust the permanent bridge for a perfect fit before securely cementing it in place. In some cases, we may use temporary cement initially to allow your teeth and gums to adjust.
After the procedure, your dentist will provide personalized care instructions to help maintain your bridge. Daily brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits are crucial for keeping your bridge secure and your smile healthy for years to come.
